The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
by Stephen R. Covey [more]
Preface: First published 20 years ago, I still occasionally reference this book and often recommend it to young business people and entrepreneurs I’m coaching. I “drank the Kool-Aid” at a seven habits seminar in 1991 and used its fundamental logic in building my own business from then on. And despite the misuse and overuse of such buzz words as paradigm, proactivity and synergy, I still believe in the book’s practices and principles.
A favorite quote:
“Proactive people…………work on things they can do something about. Reactive people……focus on the weakness of other people…..and circumstances over which they have no control. This focus results in blaming and accusing attitudes, reactive language and increased feeling of victimization.”
